Today is Independence Day.
And it seems to mean a lot of things to a lot of people.
To some it is about history, kind of an impersonal history, happened long ago type history.
Its really just a day off of work for these folks.
And then theres folks that take it seriously as a heart attack.
Its a personal thing.
These are usually families with a fair percentage of military in them.
And a lot of personal handguns.
I had a friend growing up that came from the first type of family.
They really weren’t into the patriotic holidays.
And they believed personal hand guns should be illegal.
Atheists, don’tcha know?
And then there was my family.
Lots of military
And in the house I grew up in? My father had enough firepower to fight off zombie hordes, if need be.
God Bless America, dammit!
Most people seem to have an almost nonchalant attitude when it comes to loving your country.
And that sucks.
I was listening to the radio once and the DJ had a guy on the phone who had come to the USA from Iraq. This was before we knocked Saddam out of power.
And the guy was going off on the old “America is the great Satan.” BS.
So the DJ was getting pissed and told him to go back to Iraq.
The guy responded that he can’t because of the political climate.
And the DJ went off with some angry brilliance.
This is as accurate that as I can remember.
“I don’t necessarily believe that the embodiment of ultimate evil walks the earth, but if I did, and I knew what country the “Great Satan” lived in, I WOULDN”T FUCKING MOVE THERE!”
I agreed whole heartedly.
However, the FCC did not.
The station got fined, and the DJ got fired.
And the asshole remained in the land of the “Great Satan”.
I guess I just don’t understand how you could live in a country you have nothing but contempt for.
Everyone has the right to say what you want, thats kind of the whole point of Freedom.
But, I have the freedom to rip your bullshit opinions apart like tissue paper when you annoy the shit out of me.
Because thats my Freedom.
And if you don’t like it, either write your own Blog or move to Iraq.
Or move to Iraq AND start your own blog.
I guess it pisses me off that, yes you have the freedom to say what you want, but at least be respectful of the fact that the situation was created to let you say what you want instead of carving your tongue out.
Which is the whole point.
Have a great 4th of July.
God Bless America.
