Oh, the people you meet.

14 Mar

Facebook is a really useful tool for allowing people to get back in touch with old friends, and to some extent, themselves.

But, what if you were a drama queen in High School?

Most people get away from that once they get away from the people they were children with.

Maybe they brought it out of them.

And they got out in the world and grew up a touch.

And then facebook came along.

And they suddenly found a way to become the little drama queen they had been hiding for so long.

But, how do you recognize the FB adult child?

Take a good look at their posts and at least once a week, they are at war with someone.

And there is always an element of how hard it is, how unfair it is, the unbearable situation that they somehow manage to go on with.

And they are masters of the passive slam.

“I love you honey, but I hate your guts.”

That is an extreme, but you have a face in your mind, don’t you?

Moving on.

There are those that use FB to change who they are.

I have an old friend, not a close one, but we know each other.

And if you read his FB profile, he won the game of pin the tail on life.

He has owned several companies, traveled the world, speaks several languages, you name it.

Its a long story how I know, be he actually is a warehouse supervisor for the last 20 years, three divorces and, in my
opinion, english is almost a challenge.

Still a great guy, but reality doesn’t have much of a strangle hold on his life.

Rounding it all out, is the FB instigator.

Fine, I will own this one.

The instigator looks for trouble, and if he can’t find it, he’ll start it.

There is an element of inconsistency at times to the shit stirring that goes on.

And in some instances, outright cheap manipulation.

Its a form of bullying in a way.

The instigator tends to go after two types.

The first is the Alpha personality.

This is someone who can hold their own and the exchange is often more fun.

The second is the Identified Victim.

The ID, as we will call them, is kind of like a willing sacrifice, offering their throat to the Aztec priest.

At least it seems that way to the Instigator.

The ID reacts like a singed kitten to most comments.

The only problem is when the Instigator manipulates the ID too much.

The ID can get to a point where they go off for days after a tough exchange.

And that ends up being no fun for anyone.

In the end, FB is a catalyst for some people.

Some good, some bad.

But, its not like you can play Farmville forever.

God I hate that game.
